Built by hand in the sculptor’s studio on Vancouver Island, BC Canada, each sculpture is one-of-a-kind. Concrete sculptor Birgit Piskor works from her own original sketches to create fluid, ethereal works of art out of a modified concrete formula that she mixes in small batches. This concrete formula, along with an acrylic finish applied to add color, allows her works to weather outdoors (as well as indoors). The artist channels the industrial essence and rigidity of concrete into shapes and textures that are tactile expressions of transformation and visceral moments of beauty in flowing organic forms.
